Inside the car
The first Xsara T4 (the white test car) had a cockpit
similar to the kitcar (LCD display in front of the driver). The main
objective of this first car was to validate mechanical solution rather
than to work on ergonomy.
The final cockpit has change a lot compared to the kitcar. The reason
for this is the fact that embedded electronic is more present in the T4/WRC.
For example, there are 3 differential electronically driven in the T4.
The kitcar was equipped with only one (it was a 2 wheels drive).

card light, gauge, electronic accelerator, extinguisher, engine's sensor
).

headlight, pumps, windscreen heater, electronic computers.

windscreen heater, dashboard, engine's sensor, petrol pump and water injection
pump, ventilators).
6: acquisition box of engine and
chassis datas. This is a "Black Box 2" product of Magneti Marelli.

: one is dedicated ot engine (injection, ignition, electronic accelerator,
anti-skid system). The other is dedicated to the chassis management
(differential are electronically controlled. |

Under the co-driver legs is located a small compartment containing
the electric screwer use to change tires (this can be perform by the car's
crew when no assistance is allowed).
The "Coralba". This very accurate equipment developed
in Sweden measures distance, time, computes speed and indicates the petrol
level (refer to image below).

1: Main screen. Display data
selected by the different key.
2 and3:
Secondary screens. Main screen information may be dragged on this secondary
screens using arrow key.
Detail of right key :
-
Trip 1 : Partial distance. Used during link
run. It is reset by the foot switch when the car pas by mark points.
-
Trip 2 : Global distance. Reseted manually
(reset key) at the beginning of the run.
-
Speed : Display speed.
-
Time : Display time counter.
-
Fuel : Display petrol level.
-
Cal : calibration. Allow system calibration
required when tyres with different diameter are used
The co-drive has also access to :
-
Two card light used to read the road book.
