Summary:

“Tuffy” began life as a 1986 VW GTI (A2) with an 8 valve engine and air conditioning. Prior to being prepped as our 2nd rally car it was Eric Schroeder’s daily driver. At that time Eric was rallying an A2 Jetta. “Tuffy’s” debut was with a victory at Paris by Night in 1999. She campaigned 29 Club Rallies, 9 Pro Rallies, numerous Rallycrosses and one 4th of July Parade before her original bone stock engine melted down (see story elsewhere on this website). She was fitted with a new stronger engine over the winter of 2002.

Steel unibody with 6 point cage made of 1.5” diameter by .95” thick DOM steel tubing, partial seam weld and aluminum skid plate by Douglas Davenport Racing.

Engine:

Volkswagen 4 cylinder, in-line, dual overhead cam, 1.8 litre block and 16 valve head.

Engine Modifications:

42mm Intake, Euro Intake cam, Group A Head gasket, and J&E Pistons, Goik Rings. Head work by “Headwerks”. Built and tuned by Danny Page.

Stock fuel pumps, CIS, Techtonics Fuel enrichment module
