CFJC tv (kamloops) is actually closer to merritt than CHBC (kelowna). and cfjc also links with "kamloops best rock 98.3 cifm" and "b100 top hits" so that might also be an idea. ALSO contact www.theX.ca , that is the college radio station in Kamloops and they would probably make a public service announcement (PSA) for on air hosts to read as well or else atleast offer the chance to run some ads with them. and then for kamloops newspapers there is the kamloops daily news which is the subscriber paper and kamloops this week which is the free paper, both of which hit a way bigger audience than the merritt newspapers. also, the local shaw station has an area where they run little videos and upcoming features on one week basis' and they may be willing to put together something as well. just some more ideas shawn edstrom www.emoneen.com/lummerracing ........................................................... Just curious what kind of local PR you guys are doing for the rally... - have you talked to CHBC? any interest? - adverts in local papers, Similkameen News Leader or whatever the Nicola valley equvalent is, etc? http://www.thenewsleader.ca/ Skye ........................................................... >www.sportsnet.ca has a feedback section... if everyone drops >them a line suggesting they cover the event... who knows? >they aren't busy with hockey! LOCAL LOCAL LOCAL !!!!! I think a huge part of what's holding back rally in Canada & the USA is the lack of local promotion. People get stars in their eyes and think "ooh I wanna be on SpeedTV" or whatever, like that's the beginning and end of PR for the sport. IMO you have to get locals jazzed about it. It's all about grassroots, and it goes a lot further to promoting the sport. PUT UP BANNERS in the town, like across the main street, for a week or two before the event. Have a big arrow on the banner pointing to a store that has stacks of photocopies with "what is rally?" and spectator information. CONTACT LOCAL MEDIA. Get them excited. Take them for a ride on a shakedown stage! If some of the entrants have in-car video, connect them with local TV stations and give them the footage! If there's an "official" hotel/motel, make them put the rally info up on their sign! WELCOME PACIFIC FOREST RALLY - COME INSIDE FOR DETAILS and leave another big stack of info sheets at the front desk. Maybe even consider a bulk mailing to everyone in the nearest 2 or 3 town! I have no idea how much that would cost though. I hear Paul's a somewhat busy guy though But us builders/drivers have to be ambassadors for the sport too. Skye
