>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Painting Stripes....... If you are going to remove the tape soon like in under 2 days the blue type of masking tape will work well. If you are going to leave it longer you need to use the green tape. Stay away from traditional masking tape. The Blue tape is Scotch/3M #2090 and is $3.71 per role, all prices list. Also nice is Scotch Fine Line #218 - likely too nice for a rally car but what the heck $7.88 for a role, must be removed soon after application and can be put on freshly cured paint. I use Fine Line when doing nice paint jobs on million $ yachts, I would never bother on one of my cars. If you do not get it down just right paint will wick under the fine line making a less than nice paint edge how ever if you do get it down and burnish it, this will provide a very sharp and nice paint edge, better than even the green tape listed below will produce. The best tape for outdoor painting is the Green ScotchMark #256 How do we know it is the best well it is $14.32 a roll and worth every penny when you spend more than 2 days on a project. Again this is the stuff I use on yachts, mostly to mask off paint when I am varnishing, as varnishing takes a week or to and the tape needs to last that long with out hurting the paint under it. You can use any of the above tapes to hold down newspaper or 3M's overspray protective sheeting $36.16 for 12 x 400 feet. It is charged to cling to a car to help hold it down. Oh I should point out all my paint exp is on boats - I am making the vast leap of an assumption that cars are not that diffrent. All the above are avaible at Fisheries Supply north lake Union in seattle, meet me there, and I will get you account price about 25% off list. Derek
